About Jo Salter
Dr Jo Salter MBE made history as Britain’s first female fast jet pilot, flying the formidable Panavia Tornado with the RAF’s legendary 617 Squadron. A true pioneer in aviation and leadership, Jo broke barriers in a male-dominated environment and has since inspired audiences around the world with her story of determination, courage, and trailblazing success.
Joining the Royal Air Force at just 18, Jo initially trained as an engineering officer before pivoting to pilot training when the RAF opened its cockpits to women. She went on to earn her wings in 1992, marking a turning point not just in her own career, but in British military history. Her journey from cadet to Flight Lieutenant embodies her resilience, adaptability and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Following her time in the military, Jo built an impressive career in business and leadership. She is currently Director of Global Transformative Leadership at PwC and serves as a Global Advisory on Generative AI. Her corporate experience spans technology, transformation, and people strategy, and she has held senior roles across multiple sectors including energy and finance.
Jo is a dynamic and engaging speaker who brings unique insights into high-performance leadership, performing under pressure, gender diversity, and navigating change. Whether sharing lessons from the cockpit or boardroom, Jo connects with audiences of all sizes with warmth, humour and authenticity.
An accomplished author and advocate, Jo is a Trustee of the RAF Club, an Ambassador for the Global Angels charity, and was named one of the 50 Most Inspiring Women in the World by Harpers & Queen. She holds an honorary doctorate and continues to champion causes close to her heart – including female empowerment, youth development and innovation in leadership.
Jo’s keynotes are as inspirational as they are practical, perfect for organisations looking to motivate teams, build resilient leaders and embrace a culture of transformation.
Testimonials
"We thoroughly enjoyed Jo’s light hearted yet compelling take on the challenges she faced as a woman in the RAF. Jo manages to make a very serious point in a gentle and humorous way – but there is no doubt that this is a serious woman with real grit and determination. Her style fitted a pre-dinner slot perfectly and lightened the mood following a deep and thorough agenda during the day."

"I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a huge thank you for your opening keynote at our conference on Monday. We have had fantastic feedback from our delegates and I thought it was a very interesting, engaging, entertaining and thoughtful keynote session. As a member organisation in the IT world we are working hard to redress the natural imbalances in the IT workforce and your session I believe has helped in our endeavours."

"Jo Salter spoke to a rapt audience of 2,000 Townswomen at their annual conference and had them alternately informed, enthralled and amused as she told the tale of her progress from her student days to her success as this country's first female jet-fighter pilot. Clearly the thoroughness which she must have brought to her flying ambitions has carried through to her appearance as a speaker, for hers is a lucid, articulate and brilliantly constructed description of life in the hot seat."
