Dr Tessa Dunlop is lively broadcaster with a a huge interest in Modern History, Romania and rural affairs. She is also a highly amusing and acclaimed host.
Dr Tessa Dunlop is a presenter, historian and writer best known for her work on BBC2’s Bafta-winning series Coast.
She has a very strong bond with Romania having first visited there in 1992. Tessa went there to volunteer in an orphanage in Siret, in northern Moldavia. The experience was only the beginning of a lifelong connection with the country, both professional and personal. She often writes and speaks about Romania for U.K. media and has a Romanian family. Furthermore she has a PhD in examining Romania’s international identity during World War 1.
The Author of The Century Girls, which was a Times Bestseller, Tessa also wrote The Bletchley Girls. This weaves together the lives of 15 women all of whom were selected to work in Britain’s most secret wartime organisation – Bletchley Park. Tessa has two history degrees: a BA in Modern History from Oxford University and an MA with distinction from Sheffield Hallam University.

Tessa has presented history programmes for Discovery, History Channel, Living TV, Channel 5, BBC2, BBC Wales. She has also presented radio features for Radio 4’s Crossing Continents and From Our Own Correspondent, the BBC’s World Service and Radio 5’s Late Night Live among others.
As a contributor Tessa has appeared many programmes. These include BBC Radio 4’s Today and The World Tonight programmes, Classic FM, Sky News, BBC Breakfast TV etc. Tessa juggles her time between London, Scotland and Romania.
