Steve Pateman
Steve Pateman is an accomplished after dinner speaker and business lecturer. Whether talking to small groups or conferences; he talks about his life as a shoe factory managing director leading his company from every day footwear and fashion into the kinky boot market.
About Steve Pateman
Steve Pateman is renowned for telling stories and anecdotes from how he went from the back streets of Earls Barton to a BBC2 programme “ The Kinky Boot Factory” which millions of people have watched worldwide. Subsequently, the story was adapted into the film “ Kinky Boots” and then into a Broadway musical of the same name.
Steve Pateman started in the family shoe business W J Brookes straight from school at the age of 17 where he learnt the trade from his farther, eventually taking over the running of the factory when his farther retired. When a down turn in the shoe industry led Steve to look to new ideas he stumbled into the market of making kinky boots for the transvestites and transgender community.
A series of events then led him into a world of new experiences, people and celebrities as well as becoming a television star BBC2 programme, The Kinky Boot Factory.
The documentary where shaving his legs and learning to walk in six-inch stiletto heels are just two of the things he did to save his family business. The programme caught the attention of film-makers and in 2005 became the film Kinky Boots. Now the New York stage version has won the Tony award for Best Musical.

Testimonials
"Just a note to tell you how brilliant Steve Pateman was at our meeting today. He was possibly one of the most enjoyable speakers we have ever had. He had the audience of women in stitches of laughter for over an hour, and his talk was funny, engaging, and filled with humanity. His personality was relaxed and friendly, and he was happy to pose for pictures and to chat well beyond the contracted time. We would have him back in a heartbeat, and would heartily recommend him to anyone looking for a charming, entertaining and accomplished speaker."

"A sincere thank you for a fantastic afternoon. I think you should be on the stage – your’re a born story teller! Feedback has been so positive and we think that you must have drawn our largest audience to date as we have 240 signed in and we always know a few sneak in as well! A lovely send off for our Chairman as she steps down next month after five years. We hope that the show does as well over here as in New York. Again thank you ."
