Biography

Sally Boazman has become known as the woman who changed the face of traffic news. After working with the likes of Steve Wright, Johnnie Walker, Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine and Chris Evans, millions now tune into her informative and witty bulletins, and she has been nominated for numerous awards from both her peers, and from professional motoring organisations.

As a result, she was voted 4th in a Radio Times favourite voices poll and is always in demand for voice over and corporate work.

She had recorded voice overs for Land Rover, Cadbury and even Status Quo and has promoted and endorsed The Road Haulage Association, Crimestoppers and The Highways Agency (even on occasions standing in for the Minister of Transport!). Sally can be heard on BBC Radio 2 every weekday from lunch time until 7pm.

After working as an actress, and in current affairs at London Weekend Television she joined the Automobile Association, working at AA Roadwatch and broadcasting traffic news to a variety of stations, including Classic FM, LBC and many more. She also appeared regularly on Sky Television. She went on to work as a presenter for the British Forces Broadcasting Service and the BBC World Service, as well as hosting her own programmes on commercial radio.

Greater London Radio then beckoned, and she became their chief travel reporter, not only reporting on the station, but also writing and delivering scripts for their sister TV Station, Newsroom South East. During this time she made several television appearances, both nationally and locally, wherever a travel story warranted it. On the day of Princess Diana¹s funeral, Sally reported on BBC 1 throughout the day on the implications of the crowds on the roads in and around the London area.

Having then moved to BBC Radio 2 in 1998 she took up the role as the station’s first designated travel reporter, and quickly became the butt of insults and innuendo from her fellow presenters.

However, her shoulders are broad, and she continues to enjoy what she considers the best job in the world. She was recently given an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award¹ on behalf of all the UK Truckers for her traffic news on BBC Radio 2. On television she featured on the new BBC series ‘So You Think You’re a Good Driver?’ and she has stood in for other presenters on BBC Radio 2 programmes.

She has been voted one of the most attractive female voices on UK radio in a Radio Times poll, coming in at number 4, beating most of the top personalities in UK radio and topping the poll on BBC Radio 2.

Sally’s talents do not stop at broadcasting. She is an accomplished writer and an outstanding singer. Her popularity means she is in constant demand for voice overs and personal appearances.  She is a very popular guest at the Truckfest events which are held throughout the country, and where her listeners have a chance to meet her in person.
