About Lawrence Tijjani

Lawrence’s early academic life was marked by setbacks, failing all but one of his GCSEs. This, however, was the turning point that led to a remarkable transformation. He successfully resat his GCSEs and A-Levels despite being diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy at 17, which brought recurrent seizures and hospitalisations. These challenges only fueled his determination to succeed.

Driven by a passion for technology and education, Lawrence embarked on a successful decade-long IT and Computer Science teacher career, eventually becoming a Senior Leader. However, a severe epileptic attack that affected his mobility led him to leave the classroom to focus on his health and well-being. This period was a time of deep reflection and realignment of his priorities.

Founding Happy 2 Host Education

Lawrence founded Happy 2 Host Education, a professional development and creative agency for schools and colleges. He established this venture to address the lack of diversity in the edtech space and to continue supporting educators. As the first black in the UK and Ireland to become a Google Professional Development Partner, he has created programs to diversify the edtech community.

Just A Guy CIC: Turning Pain into Purpose

The concept for Just A Guy CIC evolved from Lawrence’s personal blog, “Just A Guy Trying to Make It,” which he started during his recovery. The blog’s broad appeal led to the realisation of the impact of his experiences. Just A Guy CIC, a social enterprise, emerged from this, focusing on mentoring and workshops for young people, aiding them in building resilience and realising their potential.
