Jules Hudson is described “Thoroughly engaging and enthusiastic” with a genuine passion for getting ‘hands on’, Jules Hudson has emerged from behind the camera with a real talent for being in front of it in his area of Archaeology and History.
Jules Hudson is a presenter with a real passion for the past. After a career in Field Archaeology, he moved into TV production in 1996. Since then, he has developed and worked on a wide range of historical programming for all UK networks and TLC/Discovery.
Highlights include C4’s ‘Time Team’, BBC 2’s ‘Horizon’, and three military history series for the BBC’s Richard Holmes, an experience which made much of his passion for military history, and which took him from the mine fields of North Africa to the mountains of the Himalayas. He has also established a real talent for film making in often demanding environments.
Jules’ presenting career started in 2003 with ‘The Making of England’, for ITV Meridian. He then developed, produced and presented ‘Revival’, also for ITV which recently gained an RTS nomination. ‘Revival’ thrilled the audience with Jules’ attempts at learning to be everything from a medieval knight to a WW2 tank commander. Sharing his unique and contagious historical zeal, he led the audience into the colorful world of living history. The series has since also aired on The History Channel.
Since then, he’s worked with Philip Schofield as historian and voice of reason on ITV’s ‘Have I Been Here Before?’, and has just completed a second series due to TX in Spring 2006. He has also made a number of appearances as guest historian on ‘This Morning’. Jules appeared as resident historical expert on a series for ITV entitled ‘Seeing the Dead’, and was part of the presenting team for ‘The Peoples Museum’ TX on BBC2 in May 2006. Since 2007, he has been one of the main presenters of BBC’s ‘Escape To The Country’ and frequent guest on ‘Countryfile’.
Outside of archaeology and history, his interests include wide ranging travel, renovating buildings and garden design, interests he continues to pursue whilst reconstructing his own 18th century house in mid Wales.
