Joanne Harris MBE is an enchanting speaker who inspires and educates with her impressive storytelling. She is also passionate about the importance of libraries and early access to culture; social media as a means of reaching a potential audience.
Joanne Harris peaks on a number of topics, which include live storytelling (with or without music), taking a book to the screen, writing fiction, and the universal power of story. She also speaks about food in fiction and folklore, challenging perceptions of race and gender, breaking down the gender barriers to promote creativity and the psychology of folklore, and fairy tales. Her speech topics also include the importance of literacy, myths and their influence on our lives, creative thinking through stories, the red shoes in folklore and fairy tales, magical thinking, and success.
Joanne Harris was delighted when her novel ‘Chocolat’ became a number-one bestselling novel. She has also written numerous short stories, three cookbooks, and a ‘Dr Who’ book, as well as penned several scripts and musical, opera, and theatre projects. Published in over 50 countries Joanne is an Honorary Fellow of St Catharine’s College, Cambridge and a member of the Council of the Society of Authors. She has also received Honorary Doctorates from Huddersfield University and Sheffield University. With 15 years’ experience teaching and lecturing at secondary and university level and 15 years’ experience of festivals, speeches, workshops, seminars, interviews and book tours Joanne really is an impressive speaker as well as being fluent in French.
