Julia’s introduction to ‘biohacking’ occurred in the 1990s during a visit to a US Navy SEALs base in California. Here, she learned about the profound effects of music on anxiety, endurance, and sleep. This discovery resonated with her dual passions as a sport and exercise scientist and as a musician and DJ. Her fascination with the scientific aspects of music and sound led her to a broader exploration of biohacks, including the health benefits of daylight exposure, intermittent fasting, cold showers, and breathwork. Her expertise has benefited clients ranging from the GB Olympic team and NHS dementia projects to business leaders and acclaimed entertainers.
Julia has also investigated why the diet and fitness industry’s growth hasn’t curbed the rise in waistlines and related health problems. She identified three critical habit-hacks that influence the circadian/sleep cycle, the gut-brain axis, and the stress response—three interconnected systems essential to our health.
Julia’s Health Trilogy book series aims to disseminate new scientific findings and the efficacy of straightforward, science-based habits. The series begins with The Music Diet, which explores how music and sound can be powerful biohacks. Neuron, the second book, inspired her wellness startup, Holidity, and her signature habit-hacking program, The 90-Day Reset. The trilogy concludes with F-Bomb, a book on the science of longevity that received a front-page feature in The Times and several TV appearances. Following these publications, Julia launched two innovative products: Hack, a prebiotic coffee for gut health, and Music Hacks, a collaboration with Universal Music to improve stress resilience and sleep quality.
In addition to her writing, Julia hosts the Dr Julia Jones Live show and conducts Biohacking Bootcamps, where she combines science, music, and interactive elements to simplify complex ideas. Recognising that many chronic illnesses start at a cellular level during one’s working life, Julia works with organisations to integrate cutting-edge epigenetic science into their employee wellness programs.
Dr. Julia Jones’s career is a testament to her dedication to understanding and improving human habits, making her a leading figure in the field of biohacking and wellness.
