About Ayo Sokale

Ayo works as a Major Project and Programme Delivery Business Manager at the Environment Agency, where she has delivered major flood risk management projects, managed multidisciplinary teams, supervised engineers, and contributed to policy development through key committees. She is a committed advocate for sustainable infrastructure, environmental responsibility, and inclusive engineering.

In 2023, Ayo founded Tessellated Future Technology, a pioneering tech start-up. In 2024, the company launched Get Coached, an AI-powered coaching app providing 24/7 access to personalised coaching. The platform brings high-quality, affordable coaching to a wider audience, reflecting Ayo’s passion for self-development, technology, and building a more equitable society.

A highly sought-after keynote and conference speaker, Ayo delivers engaging presentations on technology, sustainability, engineering, innovation, leadership, and future skills. Her talks combine technical insight with lived experience, inspiring audiences to think differently and act with confidence.

Alongside her engineering career, Ayo is an accomplished BBC broadcaster and presenter. She co-presents CBeebies’ Get Set Galactic, introducing young audiences to science through topics including gravity, energy, pollination, and the Solar System. Her broadcasting work also includes BBC Reel, BBC Bitesize, and documentary projects for Smithsonian, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Yesterday TV, and Channel 5, as well as commercial work with ITN and Trimble.

Ayo is deeply committed to STEM education and public engagement. She produces content for corporate clients and leads the Wednesday Wisdoms Podcast, Everyday Science Series, and Esoteric Stories for Modern Lives. A former Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Reading, she founded Plastic Free Caversham, securing single-use plastic-free accreditation in 2022.

As a qualified Executive Coach, Ayo supports senior professionals navigating career transitions, helping them align their values with their ambitions. Drawing on her own diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome, she also speaks openly and powerfully on neurodiversity, mental health, and inclusive leadership.

Ayo is the author of Othered: How to Thrive & Disrupt in Spaces Not Created for You, with rights managed by The BKS Agency. She is also featured in Dr Shini Somara’s Engineers Making a Difference and Daniel Tammet’s 9 Minds, reflecting her influence across engineering, education, and entrepreneurship.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ayo is a non-linear thinker and multifaceted role model. Her experiences include pageantry titles such as Miss Plymouth, Miss Sussex, and Miss East Sussex, alongside extensive work with social enterprises and charities. She is also represented as the animated superhero Eco Angel, highlighting her commitment to flood protection and community resilience, and serves as a Trustee for the Autistic Girl Network Charity.

Recognised as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering (2017) and ICE President’s Future Leader (2018), Ayo Sokale is a powerful force for positive change, innovation, and inclusion across engineering, media, and technology.
