Eric Knowles
Eric Knowles is probably best known for his appearances since 1981 on BBC Televisions ‘Antiques Roadshow’ and in recent years has become a joint presenter of the ever popular ‘Bargain Hunt.' His many other TV appearances include ‘Put your money where your mouth is’ and both ‘Restoration Roadshow’ and ‘Antique Master’ the latter co-presented with Sandi Toksvig.
About Eric Knowles
Having spent 32 years working for Bonhams auction house in London he now works as an independent valuer and lecturer from his home in the Chiltern Hills.
Other work includes hosting antique and architecture related visits both in the UK and overseas
On an academic level he has lectured at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum and many important national museums and galleries not only in the UK but also Australia, Canada, the USA, South Africa, France and Germany.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the University of Central Lancashire whilst holding an MA (Honoris Causa) presented by Southampton Solent University.
Eric also has the Freedom of the City of London.
He is the author of nine books covering subjects such as Victoriana, Royal Memorabilia, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Rene Lalique.
Eric is a long-time ambassador for the Princes Trust as well as a patron of several Museums and numerous charities.
