About Anne-Marie Imafidon

Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon is the epitome of what it means to be a prodigy. Aged 11, she was the youngest girl ever to pass A-level Computing, and was only 20 years old when she received her Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the prestigious University of Oxford. Anne-Marie has featured among the top 10 BAME leaders in tech by The Financial Times and is the temporary Arithmetician on Channel 4’s longstanding Countdown.

Anne-Marie’s leadership extends to the highest levels of academia and policy, having served as President of the British Science Association (2022-2023) and currently holding the prestigious position of Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University.

In 2025, she was appointed as the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Women in Tech Envoy, where she co-chairs a vital Taskforce alongside the Secretary of State to shape the future of the UK’s digital economy. Beyond her work in policy, she is a prolific author and media personality. She published her acclaimed first book, She’s In CTRL, in September 2022 and is known to millions as the Arithmetician on Channel 4’s Countdown. As a regular commentator for Sky News, the BBC, and Bloomberg, she remains at the forefront of the national conversation regarding the evolving role of technology in society.

Her contributions to society have been met with the highest honours, including an MBE awarded in 2017 for services to young women and STEM sectors. Anne-Marie’s academic standing is bolstered by Honorary Doctorates from eight leading institutions, including the Open University, Bristol, Kent, Coventry, and Royal Holloway, as well as an Honorary Fellowship at Keble College, Oxford. In addition to her academic roles, she serves as Co-Chair of the Institute for the Future of Work and Chair of the UD Music Foundation.
