Before launching his own consultancy, training and public speaking business, Tom was the Campaigns Director for one of the UK’s leading business organisations where he established the Future of Jobs Observatory to pre-empt evolving skills needs and AI adoption. Speech Topics

Tom’s speech topics include, but are not limited to:

MEGA TRENDS, MICRO LENS – This talk hones-in on what big picture, global trends mean in practice for the individuals and organisations. The presentation is tailored to each event, with a focus on the following ‘big-ticket’ items:

  • Green transition – How are organisations managing change and making sustainability a core element of their employer brand?
  • AI and digital adoption – How is AI-driven disruption playing out in different sectors, what are the implications for managers and leaders?
  • The expectations gap – What do evolving worker expectations mean for organizational culture, how are employers using new employee engagement strategies to unleash collective energy?
  • People and skills – How is the skills ecosystem being reframed and how is a ‘skills-first’ approach to hiring boosting productivity and inclusion?
  • The future of work – How are business leaders adapting to a shape-shifting word of work, and embedding new working patterns and structures?

WALKING THE TECH V TOUCH TIGHTROPE IN AN AGE OF AI OMNIPOTENCE – This talk is based on insight from my global projects for the World Employment Confederation, the UN and the ILO. It brings together practical examples of how businesses from around world are harnessing AI whilst upping the ante on interpersonal skills and creating cohesive cultures. As with all my talks, I structure the content to prompt audience interaction.

COME TASTE THE BRAND – How are organisations re-energising their employer brand and using this to attract the staff and skills they need? And how are managers and leaders boosting their voice and visibility by powering-up their personal brand? This highly-topical talk is based on regularly refreshed ‘case study carousels’ from around the world.

THE FLORAL BOX FORMULA – This is a very personal talk based on the story of my grandmother’s flower shop in the Midlands and the life-lessons it taught me. I use this to draw out timeless take-aways about extreme resilience, entrepreneurship, work-life balance, leadership and love. These are all chapters in the book I am currently completing of the same title.

EIGHT EXPECTATIONS  – What do young people expect from work and what are the implications for employers? This talk is based on the insight and Youth Voice Census data that I access as a Director of Youth Employment UK (as well as on my work as a rugby coach). It covers eight areas where the expectation gap is at its widest and presents solutions for each one.
