Investigative journalist and TV presenter
About Seyi Rhodes
Seyi Rhodes is an award-winning journalist, documentary maker and broadcaster whose work has taken him to some of the world’s most challenging and underreported environments. Best known for his reporting on global affairs, conflict, inequality and untold human stories, Seyi brings a compelling and thought-provoking perspective to conversations around diversity, ethical leadership, resilience and working in high-pressure environments.
Born in the UK and raised between Nigeria, Trinidad and Spain, Seyi developed a global outlook from an early age. After beginning his career as a TV current affairs researcher and Assistant Producer, he worked on investigative documentaries for major broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV, exploring subjects ranging from teenage gangs to organised fraud, often through covert filming and long-form investigations.
Seyi later became a familiar face on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff, spending three years as a regular contributor and interviewer. Speaking to everyone from Hollywood stars including Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp to everyday audience members, the experience sparked his passion for uncovering unheard perspectives and stories that rarely make headlines.
This passion led to Seyi presenting more than 20 episodes of Unreported World, reporting from locations across the globe and covering complex stories with humanity and insight. Fluent in multiple languages, including French and Spanish, with knowledge of Portuguese and Creole, he has built trust and rapport in environments ranging from the jungles of Myanmar to Brazilian favelas.
Seyi’s documentaries have often had real-world impact. His film Nigeria’s Millionaire Preachers continues to attract significant audiences years after broadcast, while his reporting in Trinidad contributed to political scrutiny and his documentary The World’s Worst Prison became a reference point for criminal justice reform discussions in Haiti. In 2017, footage Seyi filmed in Ivory Coast was used as evidence in proceedings at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where he was called as a witness in a war crimes tribunal.
Alongside his reporting for Dispatches and other current affairs programming, Seyi speaks to organisations about diversity and inclusion, drawing on his own lived experiences and global perspective to explore how businesses can create more inclusive cultures and broaden representation. He also shares lessons from ethical travel, investigative journalism and working safely in hostile environments, using remarkable real-life stories to inspire audiences and challenge assumptions.
