About Kerry Daynes

Kerry Daynes has a unique flair in communicating her expertise and messages in a way that audiences love to hear. What sets Kerry apart is her high-profile career as a respected forensic psychologist. Having spent over twenty-five years on the frontline of the criminal justice and mental health systems her credentials are first class.

Kerry Daynes is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.  A Health & Care Professions Council Registered and Practitioner Forensic Psychologist. She is also a Chartered Scientist.

Kerry began her career working in high-security prisons and secure hospitals. During this time, she earned the dubious honour of having worked closely with many of Britain’s most notorious criminals.  She set up her own forensic psychology practice in 2002 after she was invited to act as behavioural analyst in major police investigations. Furthermore, she became a trusted court-appointed expert and advisor to government agencies.  Moving into more mainstream mental health recovery services in 2013 Kerry currently works with organisations, groups and individuals.

Her warm, practical style combined with her standing as a true expert has attracted high-profile business leaders, sports personalities and celebrities as private clients.

A much in demand TV contributor, Kerry is ‘The Profiler’ on Discovery Investigation’s award nominated Faking It documentaries.  The fourth series of Faking It will be aired in the autumn of 2020.  Kerry has also written numerous articles in the national press and she acts as a consultant to TV/film crime drama scripts.

Kerry Daynes on Mental Health and Stalking

Chosen as one of BBC Science Focus’ Inspiring Women in Science (2018) Kerry is a passionate advocate for better conversations about mental wellbeing. She is a patron of The National Centre for Domestic Violence and Talking2Minds, a charity assisting former military and emergency services personnel with post-traumatic stress conditions.  Following a very long stalking ordeal, Kerry has become an outspoken campaigner for improved laws and an effective response from the criminal justice system to this pervasive problem.

Surprisingly, Kerry is a trained fire eater too!  She has done all of the above and more with a clear focus on integrity, values and compassion. This comes across loud and clear in the positive energy she brings to any event as a highly experienced trainer and expert speaker.

Speech Topics

Inspirational Speaking

The Dark Side Of The Mind: My Life As A Forensic Psychologist

From walking into a maximum-security prison at the start of her career aged twenty-one, to becoming a prominent forensic psychologist, Kerry describes the pressure and pitfalls of delving into the darkest recesses of the human psyche. She talks with candour and humour about what a life in crime has taught her about the nature of what it means to be human and the power of compassion.

Raising My Voice

Kerry shares her jaw-dropping story of being stalked, and how it became the catalyst for social action. This is a heartfelt and fearless speech about speaking up for ourselves, championing each other, creating our own networks and transforming a frightening experience into an opportunity to make a positive impact.

Corporate Clients

It is well known that companies who focus on their employees’ mental fitness enjoy the highest pre-tax profits in addition to a happier, healthier workforce (Soma Analytics, 2018). Who better to support your employee wellbeing programme than one of the UK’s most sought-after psychologists. Kerry provides talks, workshops and longer training events that psychologically ‘storm proof’ participants  and create a culture of openness and proactivity around mental distress. Specific topics include resiliency, stress and anxiety management, ‘am I normal?’ (hint, yes you are!) and how to talk about mental health problems at work.

Younger Audiences

Kerry combines humour and science, with just the right amount of gory story-telling, in a series of lectures suitable for teenagers.  Students (not to mention teachers and parents!) are entertained and enthralled by a range of forensic psychology subjects including How To Be A Nice Psychopath and The Truth About Lie Detection.

Kerry is a particularly awe-inspiring role-model for female students and those who aspire to a career in science, her talk about her own journey, There’s An Eyeball In My Soup!, motivates and encourages younger audiences to continue their studies.
