About Kerry Daynes
Kerry Daynes is a Consultant Forensic Psychologist, best-selling author, TV presenter and broadcaster, and anti-violence campaigner.
During her remarkable career, Kerry has worked with everyone from shoplifters to serial killers in prisons, secure hospitals, courtrooms and police stations. With a list of clients that reads like a Who’s Who of the UKs most notorious criminals, she has seen it all and is uniquely placed to explain not just the what and how, but the why behind criminal, victim and wider human behaviours.
Kerry has a jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring personal story. She has battled sexism and misogyny – including being locked in a prison cell with an intimidating prisoner just for laughs, not by inmates but by the guards! She has been the victim of a stabbing on duty, and the target of a terrifying stalker. She suddenly lost her hearing in 2019, and yet it hasn’t stopped her becoming a regular on television, an award-winning anti-stalking campaigner and passionate advocate for victims of violence and abuse.
She is perhaps best known for her fan-favourite role as ‘The Profiler’ on Discovery’s long-running series Faking It: Tears of a Crime, although is regularly featured as an expert or presenter in crime documentaries internationally. Kerry published The Dark Side of the Mind, the first of her bestselling memoirs in 2019, receiving critical acclaim for her ‘warmth, wit and wisdom’ and portrayal of both offenders and victims as multifaceted human-beings, rather than stereotypes. The sequel, What Lies Buried, was listed for the 2021 Crime Writers Association Golden Dagger award for non-fiction.
Kerry is a Consultant Psychologist, Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. She is a Health & Care Professions Council Registered and Practitioner Forensic Psychologist. She is also a Chartered Scientist and member of the Science Council.
Kerry is a proud Patron of the National Centre for Domestic Violence and Talking2Minds, a national charity treating PTSD in current and ex-members of the military and blue-light services. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, the UK’s leading personal safety and anti-stalking charity. She was the recipient of an Inspirational Woman Award in 2023 and named the 2024 Crème del Crème Cheshire Female Of The Year.
Bright, funny and opinionated, combining pin-sharp psychological insights with outrageous and heart-breaking anecdotes from her professional life, Kerry is a fantastic addition to any panel and an impressive and unforgettable speaker.
She knows how to connect with audiences in order to deliver a powerful message and understands how a spellbinding keynote to begin (or end) sets the tone for the day and beyond. Her storytelling style captures and holds attention, making people experience a range of emotions but always leaving them on a high. She expertly crafts her talks around the themes of social justice and compassion, burnout and resilience, mental wellbeing, women’s interests and empowerment, championing ourselves and each other, the power of social connections/teamwork and personal growth.
Kerry’s ever-popular after-dinner speech, Tits & Teeth: My Life As A Forensic Psychologist, is an eye-opening, irreverent and darkly humorous journey from Kerry’s humble beginnings as a Northern choir-girl to the most sought after Forensic Psychologist in the business, detailing just what it takes to survive the sharp end of a crumbling justice system.
For younger audiences (14yrs +), Kerry mixes science with just the right amount of gory storytelling. Students (not to mention teachers and parents!) are entertained and enthralled by a range of forensic psychology subjects including How to be the Right Kind Of Psychopath and So You Think You Can Spot a Liar? Kerry is a particularly awe-inspiring role-model for female students and those who aspire to a career in science, her talk about her own career, There’s An Eyeball In My Soup!, motivates and encourages younger audiences to continue their studies.

It is well known that companies who focus on their employees’ mental fitness enjoy the highest pre-tax profits in addition to a happier, healthier workforce (Soma Analytics, 2018). Kerry provides talks, workshops and longer training events that psychologically ‘storm proof’ participants and create a culture of openness and proactivity around mental distress.
