About Daniel Hewitt

Daniel spent a decade as a Political Correspondent interviewing British Prime Ministers and senior politicians, covering the biggest national stories, as well as hosting political debate programmes on ITV. He was appointed Investigations Correspondent following a string of award-winning stories.

He was named Royal Television Specialist Journalist of the Year for his investigation into Britain’s housing crisis. He has twice been nominated for the prestigious Orwell Prize for his work on homelessness and poverty. He has presented a number of documentaries for ITV, including ‘Surviving Squalor: Britain’s Housing Shame’, which was named Documentary of the Year by the Association of International Broadcasters.  

He has twice been called to Parliament to give evidence to MPs about the state of Britain’s housing system, and was named in the House of Commons by the UK Housing Secretary as an inspiration behind changes to the law to give protection to housing tenants. 

Daniel is a regular podcast host and guest speaker at events focusing on politics and public policy. He has written and spoken publicly about his support for the hospice movement and the need for properly-funded end of life care. He is in the process of attempting to write hist first book.
