Jim Eastwood, record-breaking finalist of the BBC’s The Apprentice, impressed Lord Sugar throughout and was consistently cool and articulate under pressure.
Lord Sugar gave Jim the “Greatest Salesperson in The World” certificate, and Jim has already generated a real buzz around his speeches in the fields of business, sport and education. As a speaker he is a major pull: for human resource departments wanting someone to kick-start sales teams, for teachers seeking someone to appeal to teenagers making career choices, or senior management those looking to communicate messages around change and strategic planning to their employees. He quickly became the bookies’ favourite to win, and received a massive career boost from Lord Sugar’s appraisal of his skills. Nicknamed ‘Superman’ and then ‘Jedi Jim’ for his ability to influence others, many have admired his passion, charm and his competitive spirit.
Born in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, Jim has a significant grounding in marketing, management and commercial sales within industry. His mother, a retired teacher, and father, a serial entrepreneur, divorced when Jim was 12. He used this all-too-common adversity to propel him to sporting, academic & business excellence. He furthered his education at the University of Ulster, where he achieved a first-class honours degree in Sport & Exercise Science. Jim received his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Charlotte, North Carolina before attending Harvard University as a ‘Leader for Tomorrow.’
An ambitious sporting champion, Jim continued to ascend the corporate ladder as a Sales & Marketing Manager before selling his way to success in The Apprentice. A family-man at heart, Jim fills his spare time with cycling, golf, gym workouts, and travel. The Apprentice also introduced us to Jim’s wife Paula. Jim and Paula recently became parents for the first time, with baby girl Charlotte-Rose helping Jim to put his business success in perspective. Much of Jim’s working-day is spent consulting within business and academia, and being an ambassador for Education and Northern Ireland.
Described as “positive, resilient, and charismatic” Jim established himself as a talented negotiator and an accomplished salesman with expert communication skills. His highly competitive personality and relentless work ethic led him to success on The Apprentice, where he enjoyed many ‘iconic’ highlights. Since the series ended, Jim has been bombarded with job offers and requests for speaking engagements. He has recently taken up a role as Sales Director of Groupon in the UK and Ireland, helping the world’s number one daily deals website continue to deliver the newest and most exciting offers to subscribers.
