Known to many as The Blind Traveller, Amar lost 95% of his sight by the age of 18 due to an incurable eye condition. Amar rose to fame on BBC2’s Beyond Boundaries, a 220-mile jungle expedition across Central America, where he climbed volcanoes and crossed rivers alongside other disabled adventurers. He went on to become the first blind contestant on Celebrity MasterChef, reaching the semi-finals, and starred in the acclaimed BBC documentary Travelling Blind with Sara Pascoe.
A successful businessman, Amar is the founder of Traveleyes, the world’s first commercial tour operator for blind and sighted travellers. For this groundbreaking work, he was awarded the Stelios Disabled Entrepreneur Award and named one of the world’s Outstanding Young Persons by the Chamber of Commerce International.
