Biography

On any given day, Fiona Phillips may interview the Prime Minister, a pop star or a grieving family in the midst of a news tragedy. Her compassion, humour and journalistic skills have made her one of Britain’s most popular presenters. At the end of 2003, Fiona signed a new 3 year deal with GMTV, taking her into ten years with the breakfast station and the longest-running female to sit on the famous sofa!

A mother of two young boys, Fiona has also become one of the main faces of Discovery Health with two childcare series, Complementary Kids about alternative health treatments for children and Toddler Taming.

Fiona has also been featured on the front covers of most national women’s magazines in Britain. Indeed, media research shows that she is one of the most popular female presenters in the country and an edition of Woman’s Own last year with Fiona on the cover was the magazine’s best sellers of the year.

In 2002, Fiona Phillips launched a new health and fitness video “The Bodyshape Challenge” which has specific exercise plans for real women with different shapes. Fiona felt strongly as a mother of two young children that she and other women wanted straightforward exercise plans which work with a busy lifestyle and her video reflects this.

At the end of 2001, Fiona was the main presenter of the ITV prime time show “Rich & Famous”. She also guest presented ITV 2’s “Soap Fever” and BBC’s “Liquid News” and in 2000 she hosted the hit series “OK! TV”.

She joined GMTV in 1993 and was quickly promoted to become the station’s LA correspondent, providing reports, features and celebrity interviews from Hollywood, including the Michael Jackson alleged child molestation case, LA earthquake, OJ Simpson trial and interviews with some of the screen’s hottest names including Cameron Diaz, Clint Eastwood, Leonardo Di Caprio and Mel Gibson. In 1996 Fiona was nominated for the RTS Interview of the Year Award for a headline-grabbing interview with Liam Gallagher on the doorstep of his home.

Fiona also writes a weekly column for The Mirror and has written editorial for many publications including Woman and Home, Good Housekeeping and the Saturday Express Magazine. Having forged a successful career on screen, Fiona is also a published author following the released her bestselling book Before I Forget.

She holds an Honorary Master’s Degree from Solent University in Southampton for her contribution to journalism and broadcasting and is an Honorary Fellow of Cardiff University.

Fiona is proud to be an ambassador for the People’s Postcode Lottery,  whose players have helped raise almost £500 million for a number of charities and initiatives.
