About Sir Trevor Phillips OBE

Trevor Phillips OBE is an award-winning broadcaster, writer, and internationally respected authority on diversity, human rights, leadership, and the cultural impact of data and artificial intelligence. With more than four decades in public life, he brings rare depth and perspective to conversations at the intersection of business, society and technology.

A former Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and founding chair of the Greater London Authority, Trevor has played a central role in shaping modern debates on equality, opportunity and social cohesion. He was also President of the John Lewis Partnership Council, helping to oversee Europe’s largest employee-owned organisation, and remains deeply engaged in corporate governance and ethical leadership.

Trevor began his career in broadcasting at London Weekend Television, rising to become Head of Current Affairs and winning multiple Royal Television Society Awards. He went on to produce the acclaimed BBC documentary series Windrush, and co-author the bestselling book Windrush: The Irresistible Rise of Multi-Racial Britain. Today, he remains a prominent media voice, appearing regularly on BBC Question Time, Radio 4’s Today, and Sky News’ The Pledge.

In business, Trevor is Chairman of the Green Park Group and co-founder of Webber Phillips, a data analytics consultancy advising major organisations on workforce trends, organisational culture and the impact of machine learning. He also consults for leading technology firms on responsible innovation and digital transformation.

An outspoken advocate for free expression, Trevor is Chair of Index on Censorship and a long-standing campaigner against censorship worldwide. He has written extensively for The Times, The Sunday Times, Daily Mail and The Sun, and continues to shape national debate on race, identity, migration and social mobility.
