Dr Steve Ingham is one of the world’s leading performance scientists. Steve was Director of Science at the British Olympic Association and English Institute of Sport. Having led a team of 200 scientists in support of Team GB and Paralympics GB, Steve is steeped in high performance and has been integral to the development of Britain into an Olympic superpower. He has provided support to over 1000 athletes, of which over 200 have achieved World or Olympic medal success.

Steve’s sporting clients have included some of the world’s greatest athletes such as Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell.

Steve’s most popular speech is ‘Lessons from Supporting Champions: The Components of High-Performance Teams‘, in which he discusses the the critical insights working with the world’s best has taught him about working together effectively. Sharing the lessons from working with Sir Steve Redgrave who demanded, “Are you going to make me go faster”, to helping hatch the plan for Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill to deliver under the pressure of the 2012 Olympics  standards

These principles underpinned Steve’s leadership approach to leading the ‘team behind the team’ towards the Athens, London and Rio Olympic Games and now advises many national teams (including the French Institute system as they prepare to host their home games).

Away from sport, Steve also advises leading business executives on individual and team performance.

Steve is also is the author of the best selling book ‘How to Support a Champion: The art of applying science to the elite athlete’, inspiring the importance of learning and adapting to reach our maximum potential.
