About Matt Price
Matt Price is a comedian and storyteller whose life took an extraordinary turn in 2008 when he found himself face to face with a man capable of authorising a gangland execution. That encounter set Matt on an unlikely 15-year journey into the world of organised crime, speaking to criminals both on and off the record and building a level of rapport few outsiders could ever achieve.
Armed with nothing more than curiosity, a portable field recorder and a distinctly down-to-earth Cornish perspective, Matt immersed himself in conversations that most people would run from. With no journalistic training, no film crew and no protection, he met people on their terms and uncovered a surprisingly human side to lives shaped by crime. Along the way, he has found himself using a homemade flamethrower at a criminal’s house, performing stand-up comedy inside a maximum-security prison, fleeing the Turkish mafia and sharing drinks with a former ketamine dealer in Moscow.
Matt’s motivation was deeply personal. After his partner was brutally attacked by a drug dealer and two of his friends, Matt set out to understand why people choose a life of crime and how victims make sense of trauma. Rather than telling a dark or sensational story, he brings warmth, humour and honesty to experiences that are as unsettling as they are surreal.
At the heart of Matt’s work is a deeply relatable curiosity about human behaviour, resilience and choice. His storytelling is funny, uplifting and often gloriously ridiculous, offering audiences a rare glimpse into a hidden world while reminding them of the power of humour in making sense of life’s most extreme moments.
