Martin Bayfield

Martin Bayfield is the former England and British Lions Rugby forward. He is also known for his commentary for both the BBC and ITV's Rugby coverage as well as presenting 'Crimewatch' and Channel Five's American Football. His delivery is first class, he is entertaining, helps raise funds by being a sterling auctioneer and at 6ft 10in and 20 stone, he is a presence in every sense of the word - whether speaking or not!

About Martin Bayfield

Martin Bayfield’s glittering rugby playing was brought to a premature end by injury, but it also led him to find his forte as an after-dinner speaker. An exceptionally funny speaker and an excellent motivator, Martin is in huge demand for a range of corporate events. He is not only in great demand as a speaker but also as an MC and Auctioneer, attending functions ranging from local sporting clubs to large corporate events.

Martin Bayfield is an ex-policeman and was one of the tallest players in rugby, a gift he used to full advantage as one of England’s most potent forwards. On the field Martin enjoyed a successful international career, winning 31 England caps and two Grand Slams as well as being selected to represent the British Lions in New Zealand.

Since retirement Martin has moved into broadcasting, commentating for the BBC, hosting Channel Five’s NFL coverage and ‘The World’s Strongest Man.’ He also covered ‘Crimewatch’ for the BBC and the Rugby World Cup 2011 for ITV. In addition, Martin has appeared on BBC’s Radio 5 Live as a Rugby Correspondent and written for ‘The Daily Telegraph’.

Martin has also broadened his horizons to include acting and he has been involved in the production of the ‘Harry Potter’ films, where he doubled as Robbie Coltrane’s character the half giant Rubeus Hagrid, an opportunity that came about following a speaking engagement. Bayfield also played Rugby Player 2 in an episode of ‘New Tricks’ on BBC1 (first shown on 1 September 2008).

He is actively involved with charity, and is an Honorary President of Wooden Spoon – the rugby charity that supports disadvantaged children and young people.
