About Katie Piper
Katie Piper talks about an experience that would break most people. She has shed many tears but she has also managed to laugh. Her story of a young woman who appeared to have it all but ironically when it was taken away from her in seconds in a frenzied acid again, she discovered a fascinating inner strength. Furthermore she discovered a life more fulfilled and happier than she ever could have hoped for. Inspiring yes, but also intriguing and fascinating, one woman’s loss of identity as she knew it and fighting for the right to still smile!
Katie Piper has rebuilt her life after surviving a brutal attack in March 2008 at the age of 24, in which she was raped and had sulphuric acid thrown in her face.
Just over a year after the attack, Katie made the decision to share her story in a remarkable film for the Cutting Edge strand on Channel 4 called ‘Katie: My Beautiful Face’ which was watched by over 3.5million viewers and nominated for Best Single Documentary at the BAFTA Television Awards in 2010.
The Katie Piper Foundation
In 2009 she set up this charity to help people with burns and scars to reconnect with their lives and their communities. Simon Cowell supported Katie by becoming the patron and remains actively involved to date. The charity’s vision is a world where scars do not limit a person’s function, social inclusion or sense of well-being. It has helped burns victim and fellow speaker Catrin Pugh.
Katie Piper’s TV Work
In addition to her charity commitments, Katie also presents a number of TV shows. Katie has just joined the presenting team for the BBC1’s much-loved ‘Songs of Praise’ from September 2020 and is also a regular contributor and guest presenter on ITV 1’s Lorraine show.
Previously, Katie hosted ‘Never Seen a Doctor’ where she helped people overcome their fears around medical procedures. She also joined the Crime and Punishment strand on ITV1 with a documentary called ‘The Death of Aimee Spencer’. Her other credits include Channel 4’s ‘Famous and Fighting Crime’, Katie Piper’s Face to Face’ and ‘Body Shockers’. In 2018, she also graced the dance floor in BBC1’s hit show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

She has hosted guests ranging from Zoella to George Shelley.
Katie has partnered with a number of brands to create her own range of products and she is very excited to launch her own fragrance in October 2020. She is also the face of a number of beauty brands including Pantene and L’Oreal.
Katie Piper has written a number of bestselling books
Katie has written two autobiographies ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Beautiful Ever After’. She also wrote an affirmations book called ‘Start Your Day With Katie’. In addition she penned a self-help booked called ‘Things Get Better’ and then ‘Confidence: The Secret’ with an accompanying journal. Most recently she co wrote a book with her Mum called ‘Things I’d Tell My Child’.
Described as an inspirational role model, Katie’s bravery and determination have been recognised by being nominated and receiving a number of awards. Most recently she received a special recognition award at The Pride of Britain Awards in London.
Katie is mum to two young daughters and has thrown herself into motherhood enjoying every second.
