Adam Pearson
Adam Pearson is an award-winning disability rights campaigner, actor, presenter and speaker who was nominated as UK Documentary Presenter of the Year at the 2016 Grierson Awards. Adam has spoken at a number of events for companies and organisations around the world, and has also delivered a TEDx Talk on ‘Removing the Stigma of Disability.’
About Adam Pearson
Adam Pearson is an accomplished presenter and documentary filmmaker known for his critically-acclaimed work on various UK television networks. He has presented several impactful documentaries, including Horizon: My Amazing Twin on BBC Two, where he explored the challenges of living with neurofibromatosis. On BBC Three, Adam presented Freak Show and The Ugly Face of Disability Hate Crime, both of which examined the social stigmas and prejudices faced by people with disabilities. He also co-hosted Eugenics: Science’s Greatest Scandal on BBC Four, delving into the dark history of eugenics.
In addition to his documentary work, Adam has appeared as a reporter on Tricks Of The Restaurant Trade (Channel 4) and The One Show (BBC One). His television appearances extend to popular shows like Celebrity Masterchef, Celebrity Mastermind, Pointless Celebrities (all on BBC One), and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip (BBC Two).
Before becoming a well-known presenter, Adam worked as a researcher for the BBC and Channel 4. He gained recognition as a strand presenter on the first series of Beauty & The Beast: The Ugly Face Of Prejudice (Channel 4), a show he also helped develop and later consulted on for the Dutch version. He further contributed to The Undateables (Channel 4) as a casting researcher, helping to bring stories of disabled individuals seeking love to the screen.
Adam’s acting career includes a notable appearance in the BAFTA-nominated film Under The Skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer and starring Scarlett Johansson. He also played himself in the independent feature DRIB, which premiered at SXSW in 2017. More recently, he starred in Chained For Life, a film that has been released in theaters in both the UK and the US and has been featured at film festivals worldwide. His performance was praised by The New York Times, which described him as “an actor of great charm.” Adam has also completed filming A Different Man alongside Sebastian Stan.
Beyond his media work, Adam is a dedicated advocate for disability rights. He serves as an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, Changing Faces, and Us In A Bus. His advocacy efforts have earned him a RADAR Award and a Diana Award. In 2020, he was named in The Shaw Trust Power 100 List, recognising him as one of the UK’s most influential disabled people.
As a Keynote Speaker, Adam has spoken around the world at events such as the World Health Innovation Summit, Public Service and Criminology Conference and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
