Their show began on XFM in 2014, in a slot previously occupied by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and quickly gained a loyal following, amassing over 500,000 podcast downloads per month. After five years at Radio X, the duo moved to BBC Radio 5 Live in 2019, where their Friday afternoon show continues to entertain with its candid and humorous discussions on mental health. Their work has inspired partnerships with charities like Mind and CALM, two national tours, and the publication of their bestselling book The Holy Vible.
In addition to his radio success, John has been a regular guest on The News Quiz, The Now Show, and Dilemma for Radio 4, as well as popular podcasts such as The Adam Buxton Podcast and Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast.
John’s other ventures include co-creating the YouTube channel Bad Golf with comedian Alex Horne, capturing the joy and frustration of their rounds together and showing that golf is a sport for everyone. He also writes a column for The Metro and has provided voiceovers for leading brands like Ford, BT Sport, Audible, and The Economist.
A compelling speaker on mental health, John regularly addresses corporate audiences, blending humour with insight into resilience and wellbeing. In 2023, he embarked on a sold-out 48-date UK tour with his much-anticipated show Howl, further cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s most talented and versatile performers.
