Jeanette Kwakye
Jeanette Kwakye MBE is a huge name in both sport and broadcasting, combining her elite athletic achievements with her career as one of the UK’s most respected sports presenters. As a five-time British Champion and Olympian, Jeanette is no stranger to breaking boundaries. Her crowning athletic moment came at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she became the first British woman in 24 years—and the only Briton, male or female since—to compete in the 100m Olympic final, cementing her status as one of the nation’s finest sprinters.
About Jeanette Kwakye
Since retiring from athletics due to injury, Jeanette has seamlessly transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a trusted voice and anchor for major sports events. A graduate of Loughborough University with a degree in Politics and Economics, Jeanette’s sharp intellect and deep understanding of the sports world have made her a standout in the industry. She has fronted coverage for BBC and Channel 5, hosting high-profile events including the Diamond League, World Athletics Championships (most recently from Budapest), the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, and the World Swimming and Taekwondo Championships.
Jeanette regularly presents The Women’s Football Show on BBC, BBC 5 Live Breakfast, and the popular show Fighting Talk. In 2023, she made waves as the face of Sky Sports’ coverage of the British Basketball League, bringing the sport to audiences across TV and YouTube.
Breaking barriers, Jeanette became the first Black female UK TV presenter to host a boxing production on a terrestrial channel in 2020 and continues to front Channel 5’s boxing events. Her groundbreaking contributions to sport and broadcasting earned her an MBE in 2021 for services to both fields.
Beyond broadcasting, Jeanette’s talents extend to literature and education. She authored Femi the Fox, a children’s book that introduces young readers to the richness of West African culture, and she has been a dedicated ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust since 2010, advocating the benefits of sport in schools nationwide.
Jeanette’s ability to connect with audiences has made her a sought-after host and speaker. She has collaborated with major brands like Google, Nike, Twitter, and BMW and frequently works with the IOC and IAAF as a moderator. She also co-hosts the popular Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV1, further showcasing her versatility as a broadcaster.
A passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, Jeanette’s journey from the Olympic track to the broadcast studio inspires audiences to push boundaries and achieve greatness. Her and ability to engage makes her a standout choice for corporate events, where she captivates audiences with her insights on resilience and the power of sport.
