About Jason Robinson OBE
Across an exceptional career spanning Rugby League and Rugby Union, Jason played 281 professional games, scoring an extraordinary 171 tries. He represented Wigan, Bath, Sale Sharks, England, Great Britain and the British & Irish Lions, winning major honours including Super League titles, domestic championships and the 2005 Guinness Premiership. He earned 51 caps for England, scoring 28 international tries, captained the national side in 2004 and was capped five times for the British & Irish Lions. In recognition of his impact, he was appointed MBE and later OBE.
Beyond elite sport, Jason’s story resonates deeply with audiences because of its authenticity and honesty. Growing up in a deprived area of Leeds, he faced significant adversity from an early age, entering work at 16 and navigating an environment where opportunity and representation were limited. Despite reaching the pinnacle of professional sport, Jason has spoken openly about struggles with identity, belonging and mental health — experiences that now shape his work as a speaker and advocate.
Today, Jason is the Founder of JR Talks and JR Sports Stars, organisations dedicated to building confidence, aspiration and resilience, particularly among young people from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. He is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading social mobility speakers, regularly working with organisations seeking meaningful conversations around leadership, inclusion, mental resilience and overcoming barriers.
Jason is also the author of Finding My Feet, and a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, diversity and inclusion, and tackling racism and abuse. His contribution has been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Lycamobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards.
As a speaker, Jason combines elite sporting experience with lived insight, delivering talks that are honest, impactful and deeply human. He is trusted by organisations to inspire teams, develop leaders and spark conversations that lead to real cultural change.
