About Farrah Storr

Farrah Storr was also until recently, the multi-award winning editor-in-chief behind both Cosmopolitan and Women’s Health.  Both brands witnessed unprecedented success under her tenure. In 2018 Piaktus published her first book The Discomfort Zone. In this book she explains how change, challenge and constraint can lead to creativity and success.

Biography

As the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan Farrah was tasked with transforming the heritage magazine brand Elle into a multi-platform brand for millennials. Within 12 months of relaunch, Farrah had increased circulation by an unprecedented 59%.

Now reaching over 15 million women every month, Farrah has committed Elle to a number of projects. These include a social enterprise housing scheme for young women. The magazine also supports a sex education teaching programme in schools across the UK.

So far Farrah has received both the PPA Editor of The Year award. She has also received the  BSME Editor of The Year award in 2018 for her work.

Prior to Elle, Farrah was also the launch editor-in-chief of Women’s Health magazine. During this time she transformed it from a start-up team of three into the UK’s most powerful female media wellness brand.

Farrah has first-hand experience of what it takes to lead a team and transform a business. And in particular in a time of challenge and ever-changing media consumption. She is ever focused on improving her understanding of how to use pressure, challenges and even failure to one’s advantage. In order to do this Farrah has spent time with some very powerful people.  These include Silicon Valley founders, Gold medal-winning athletes and some of the most successful female entrepreneurs in the world.

Speaker and Host

As a keynote speaker Farrah has travelled to Portugal, Istanbul, Brazil and Australia to educate and motivate on a variety of subjects. These range from how constraint and change can be essential catalysts for creativity and success, to how to find your brand voice in a world of white noise.

She is also an expert moderator, having moderating panels in front of stages as large as 20,000.

A passionate advocate for diversity in the creative industries Farrah Storr was awarded HSBC Influencer of The Year 2018 award for her work. In the same year she was also named as one of only five BAME women in the UK’s 1000 Most Powerful Leaders List by The Guardian and Operation Black Vote. In 2019 she was also named as Alumna of The Year of Kings College and featured on the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000, celebrating the most influential change-makers in London. Finally, Farrah is also on the board of the government advisory Social Mobility Commission as well as the Oxford Brooke’s Journalism Advisory Board.
