August’s journey into horticulture began in 2019 after an 18-year career as an air hostess. A visit to Le Manoir’s iconic kitchen gardens left her captivated by the world of vegetable growing. Armed with enthusiasm, organic vegetables, and homemade runner bean chutney, August applied for a Kitchen Gardener position at Le Manoir despite her lack of formal qualifications. Her passion impressed the team, and after years of hands-on work and training, she earned her horticulture qualifications and became Head Tutor at the Le Manoir Gardening School.

In 2021, August launched Seed Explorers, a vibrant and educational initiative designed to inspire children and families to grow their own food. Through colourful growing boxes and interactive activities, August introduces the joy of gardening and helps children understand where their food comes from, fostering a deeper connection to nature.
