About Joe Swift

Joe Swift has also toured with his one man show ‘A Man about the Garden’ World Tour. Like his speeches his show was a light-hearted delivery peppered with his Rock and Roll youth, behind the scenes of Gardening TV and just what it takes to win a Chelsea Gold.

Joe Swift has been gardening since he left school and is a fully trained garden designer.  After leaving school Joe went to Art College and played bass in a band. He then travelled and worked abroad and upon his return started landscaping in North London. Furthermore he also lived in Australia for a year landscaping in Sydney and Melbourne. He studied garden design at The English Gardening School based at the Chelsea Physic Garden in 1990 whilst simultaneously setting up a landscaping company.

He has also been a guest on other random programmes including Celebrity Bake Off and Masterchef.

He started presenting Gardeners World in 1998 and now designs gardens, presents on TV and writes. Joe is a father, a lifelong Arsenal fan, and is a keen but very average golfer.
