About Alexander Armstrong

As part of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller, Alexander Armstrong co-starred alongside Ben Miller in four series of ‘Armstrong and Miller’ from 1997 to 2001. They then renewed their partnership for BAFTA winning ‘The Armstrong and Miller Show’ in 2007 which ran for three series.

Alexander has hosted the hugely popular quiz show ‘Pointless’ since it began in 2009 alongside other presenting roles, including ‘Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask’ and ‘Epic Win’, as well as frequently guest hosting on the BBC’s ‘Have I Got News For You’. Alexander also presented ‘The Twelve Drinks of Christmas’, a one off special for BBC2 alongside his brother-in-law Giles Coran. In 2014, Alexander co-hosted Frank Sinatra: Our Way with Rochelle Humes in a bid to find a winner to sing at The Frank Sinatra’s centenary concert.

Alexander has also turned his hand to straight acting and has starred in numerous TV dramas including ‘Love Life’, ‘Life Begins’, ‘Saxondale’ and he also appeared in Julia Davis’ 2012 comedy ‘Hunderby’. As well as being an actor and comedian, Alexander Armstrong is a classically trained singer.

November 2013 saw Alexander perform his debut show as a singer at St James’ Theatre, London. Performing with a 4-piece backing band, led by Harry the Piano, Alexander performed his take on the great British song-book with covers of everything from Benjamin Britten and Ivor Novello to Spandau Ballet.

In 2010, Alexander was featured in the hit BBC series, ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ Where he discovered that he was a descendant of William the Conqueror. Alexander has also appeared in a number of films including Jackboots on Whitehall, Skellig, Matchpoint and Churchill – The Hollywood Years.
