About Sally Phillips
Sally Phillips is one of Britain’s best-loved comedy talents, with a career spanning television, film, radio and live performance. Sally began her comedy career performing with the Oxford Revue before appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe alongside comedians including Stewart Lee, Simon Munnery and Arthur Smith. Early writing and performance work for BBC Radio led to her first comedy drama, Protesting Too Much, which aired on BBC Radio 4 in 1994.
Sally has enjoyed an extensive acting career, appearing in television favourites including Friday Night Dinner, Breeders, Veep, Jam & Jerusalem, Parents, Rescue Me and Miranda, as well as starring as Shazzer in the hugely successful Bridget Jones film franchise.
Beyond acting, Sally is also an accomplished writer, producer and broadcaster. She co-founded production company Captain Dolly with Ronni Ancona and regularly appears on programmes including QI, The One Show, Sunday Morning Live and No Such Thing As a Fish, where her quick wit and intelligence have made her a firm audience favourite.
As the mother of a son with Down syndrome and autism, Sally is a passionate advocate for neurodiversity and disability inclusion. She co-created the acclaimed BBC documentary, A World Without Down’s Syndrome? Exploring the ethical implications of prenatal screening. The documentary received international recognition and continues to be used in ethics education around the world.
