About Susanna Reid

Susanna Reid also presents other factual documentaries for ITV, including a successful new prime time show ‘Save Money: Good Food’. She is also in demand as a guest on shows including ‘Would I Lie to You?’, ‘Pointless’ and ‘Chatty Man’.

Biography

Whether she is on air or facilitating a heated debate, Susanna combines her training as a journalist with her flair as a live presenter, and she is as comfortable reporting on the General Election as she is on the red carpet interviewing Hollywood stars at the Oscars.

She could also be seen presenting the news on the ‘Andrew Marr Show’, BBC One’s flagship political insight programme. She has also presented ‘The Politics Show’ on BBC One, breaking news on the BBC News Channel and was the newsreader on ‘Breakfast With Frost.’

Susanna has interviewed some of the most famous and influential newsmakers including Al Gore, David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Harriet Harman, Vince Cable and Alastair Campbell as well as stars like Meryl Streep, Sir Michael Caine, John Cleese and David Tennant.  She even sang for Lord Lloyd Webber during his search for a Maria and she takes part in the annual Newsreaders’ performance for Children in Need.

Hosting and chairing conferences

She has chaired a number of events outside the BBC including conferences for Media Trust, Voluntary Arts England, and the Association of Colleges, and fund-raising events for Myotubular Trust and the Ickle-Pickle Foundation  In 1998 she spent 3 months in Sri Lanka as a voluntary media consultant to a major Sri Lankan charity, advising on media relations, PR and news development.  Susanna has three children and is actively involved with her local primary school.

Susanna has a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Cardiff School of Journalism and a BSc (Hons) in Politics & Philosophy from Bristol University. As a child actor, she appeared on stage with Shirley-Anne Field and in a television series with Harriet Walter, Peter Barkworth, Adrian Dunbar and Derek Thompson.  Her interests include: education and health, children’s issues, women’s rights, foreign affairs, arts, books and journalism.
