About Freya Lewis
In 2017 Freya Lewis was seriously injured in the Manchester Arena attack, losing her close friend Nell. After sustaining 29 injuries and undergoing almost 20 operations, she rebuilt her life with extraordinary determination. During her recovery, she raised £75,000 for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where she was treated. In recognition of her fundraising and resilience, she received the 2018 NHS Hero Young Fundraiser Award, alongside Amplifon’s Young Hero and Overall Hero awards.
As a motivational speaker, she shares her powerful story with honesty and warmth, focusing on resilience, mental health, and the importance of seeking help. Her debut autobiography, What Makes Us Stronger, was released in 2020 and became a number one Amazon bestseller.
“Freya Lewis spoke at The Katie Piper Foundation Carol Concert and completely captivated the room. She has an extraordinary presence , authentic, grounded and deeply compelling.
Her story is one of true survival, but what makes her remarkable is the way she tells it. There is no performance, no embellishment, just honesty, clarity and strength. The audience were utterly engaged from start to finish, and you could feel the atmosphere shift as she spoke.
Freya doesn’t just share what happened to her; she shares what she has learnt from it. Her perspective on resilience, gratitude and courage is powerful and deeply human. She speaks with maturity beyond her years, and her message stays with you long after the event.
She is a true voice of survival and hope, and I have no doubt she will make a significant impact wherever she speaks.” Katie Piper OBE
