Raga D’Silva
Raga D’Silva is an internationally recognised LGBTQ+ advocate, entrepreneur, and TEDx speaker who has fearlessly championed equal rights, particularly within the South Asian community. Her journey is one of resilience, breaking barriers, and inspiring change. Born in India and now based in the UK, Raga publicly came out at nearly 50 - just as India decriminalized homosexuality in 2019.
About Raga D'Silva
Her deeply personal story of navigating cultural stigma, familial rejection, and eventual empowerment has made her a sought-after speaker at corporate events, festivals, and conferences worldwide.
Raga is also a published author of Untold Lies and a prolific writer for publications such as Diva Magazine. Her powerful storytelling extends to film – one of her works, loosely based on her life, is currently being adapted for the screen.
A regular media commentator, Raga has appeared on BBC, Sky News, ITV, Channel 4, NDTV, and India Today, using her platform to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights globally. She was one of the petitioners in India’s fight for marriage equality and continues to push for legislative change.
Her popular podcast series, “From the Other Side”, features interviews with inspirational figures, including Bollywood celebrities. She also launched the first-ever podcast dedicated to Coming Out Stories from India, giving a voice to those who have historically been silenced.
Raga’s contributions have earned her multiple awards, including Woman of Courage at the UK Houses of Parliament (2023 & 2024). She was also a finalist for Woman of the Year at the Asian Achievers Awards, where she finished as runner-up to the then Home Secretary, Suella Braverman.
A prominent figure in corporate DEI initiatives, Raga serves on several Diversity, Equity & Inclusion boards, helping organisations create truly inclusive environments.
With an unwavering passion for representation, Raga is launching “My Pride, Your Pride – Older Queer Voices”, a new podcast series dedicated to amplifying the voices of older LGBTQ+ individuals.
