About Joanne Lockwood
Before founding SEE Change Happen Ltd, Joanne built a successful career in IT and STEM. She served in the Royal Air Force, helped launch cable television start-ups across the UK, delivered technology solutions for leading financial institutions including Coutts, NM Schroder Financial Management and Royal & Sun Alliance, and ran her own successful technology businesses. This deep technical expertise underpins her work today, particularly her thought leadership on the human impact of AI in the workplace. With a genuine understanding of both technology and organisational culture, Joanne helps leaders navigate change with confidence and empathy.
As the founder of SEE Change Happen Ltd, Joanne advises organisations on creating more inclusive, high-performing workplaces where everyone can thrive. She is also the host of the long-running Inclusion Bites podcast, with more than 240 episodes featuring conversations with inclusion practitioners and business leaders from across the globe. Her insights are regularly featured in publications including HRZone, The HRD, TrainingZone and WorkLife PA.
Drawing on her lived experience as a transgender woman, Joanne brings a perspective that is both deeply personal and professionally grounded. Rather than leading with identity, she leads with expertise, using her experiences to enrich practical conversations around culture, leadership and belonging. Her approach is rooted in the belief that lasting inclusion is built through understanding, not judgement.
Known for her mantra, Smile, Engage, Educate, Joanne’s presentations are warm, engaging and refreshingly non-preachy. She challenges audiences to reflect on what they do, rather than what they believe, creating space for honest conversations that inspire meaningful, practical change. Everything she does is driven by her commitment to creating #PositivePeopleExperiences and helping organisations build workplaces where dignity, respect and belonging are part of everyday culture.
