About Swarzy Macaly
Swarzy Macaly is a TV and radio presenter, event host and moderator best known for hosting BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Weekend Breakfast Show and as the voice of BBC Sounds.
Swarzy began her broadcasting career after winning KISS FM’s nationwide search for its next presenter in 2016. Following her win, she went on to host KISS Breakfast every weekend and became a familiar face across entertainment and live events, including hosting the BRIT Awards 2019 red carpet and interviewing artists such as Dua Lipa, Pink and Anne-Marie.
During the pandemic, Swarzy launched KISS Life, the station’s first speech-led radio programme, creating a platform for conversations around politics, culture, identity, mental health and finance. Guests included Martin Lewis, John Barnes, Grenfell United and Swiss, founder of Black Pound Day, with a particular focus on issues affecting younger audiences.
Alongside her radio career, Swarzy became the official presenter of My Life My Say’s Quarantine Question Time, hosting political and cultural discussions with figures including Sir Keir Starmer, Sadiq Khan, Reverend Al Sharpton and John Podesta. She later became a trustee of the charity and co-launched its live chat show, Make It Make Sense.
Swarzy is also the founder of Too Much Source, an annual exhibition and live event platform celebrating Black British creatives. Through this work, she has hosted workshops, panel discussions and live events for organisations and venues including Somerset House, The Barbican, Boxpark, Jazz FM and Soho House.
In 2021, Swarzy won Best Presenter at the UK Entertainment Awards and was recognised as one of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Black History Month Next Generation Trailblazers. She also hosted the London New Year’s Day Parade in 2022, broadcast live to audiences across the UK and USA.
Known for her infectious joy and ability to bring rooms and conversations, Swarzy regularl works across conferences, awards ceremonies, panel discussions and corporate events, bringing expertise across broadcasting, culture, social issues and audience engagement.
