Shelly Vella

Shelly Vella is an experienced fashion editor, stylist and creative director whose career in the magazine and fashion industry spans more than 25 years. Best known for her long-standing role as Fashion & Style Director at Cosmopolitan UK, Shelly spent 15 years shaping the magazine’s fashion identity, producing high-profile shoots, styling covers and working with some of the industry’s leading photographers, models and brands.

Shelly began her career at the launch of British Elle in the late 1980s before going on to work across a range of leading publications including YOU Magazine, Company, SHE, Marie Claire Health & Beauty and The Clothes Show Magazine. Alongside her editorial work, she also edited the standalone title Cosmopolitan Fashion.

Her work has taken her around the world, from international catwalk shows and fashion weeks to luxury editorial shoots, giving her a deep understanding of both designer fashion and the high street market. Passionate about making fashion accessible, Shelly is particularly recognised for her ability to interpret runway trends into practical, affordable style for everyday audiences.

Following her time at Cosmopolitan, Shelly moved into freelance creative direction, styling and consultancy, working with brands including M&S, Debenhams, John Lewis, JD Sports, Olympus and Pure Collection Cashmere. She has also designed collections and collaborated on projects focused on sustainable fashion and beauty.

Alongside her commercial work, Shelly launched her own fashion, beauty and interiors platform, combining editorial insight with her personal love of style, creativity and countryside living.

As a speaker and commentator, Shelly shares expert insight into fashion trends, personal style, branding, beauty and the evolution of the fashion industry, bringing warmth, creativity and decades of industry experience to every appearance.
