About Sarah Webb Gosling
Sarah Gosling OBE is a very popular, warm and genuine athlete. Like all top class sport talent, she’s driven, determined and focused. Competing in GB sport that consistently does well at Olympic and world championship level she knows how to handle pressure, bounce back from injury, set goals, adapt to change, work as a team and motivate. An intelligent lady, Sarah is a clear communicator and if you’re looking for a golden lady to impart motivational/leadership knowledge with a bite of humour, Sarah can deliver.
Sarah Gosling OBE Sarah started sailing an Optimist aged 6 and progressed to representing the UK twice at the Youth World Championships in the single handed Laser Radial.
She became a full time sailor in 1997 sailing the 470, the Women’s double handed Olympic Class, in which she achieved a world ranking of 7th place in 1999. A two year interlude into full-time employment followed. During this time Sarah was part of a team managing the outsourced services for BP with responsibilities for the contract management. During the time at BP she started Match Racing with both a British and an International Team based in the USA.
The draw of winning a medal at the Olympics took Sarah back into full time sailing. She was head-hunted in 2003 to join a British Yngling Team, joining Shirley Robertson and Sarah Ayton in the triple handed Olympic Class boat.
The trio, dubbed ‘The Three Blondes in a Boat’, represented Great Britain at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and won Britain’s first Gold Medal at the games.
On returning from Athens it was Sarah’s feeling that she had more to achieve on the Olympic stage and with Sarah Ayton the duo formed their own Yngling Team. Pippa Wilson joined the girls in October 2006 and the team never looked back. With podium finishes at every event in 2007, cumulating in taking Gold at the World Championships in July 2007 and at the Pre-Olympic Event in China in August 07, the girls were selected to be part of the British Olympic Team in Beijing 2008. Recently returned from Beijing, the girls realised their dream of gold once again and were part of the 2nd most successful Team GB in Olympic history.
In 2011, Sarah became a reporter during Cowes Week and her articles featured in CITYAM daily. Sarah Gosling OBE is married with a young son and juggles her time as a between family life and work.
