About Kevin Steele
Throughout his career, Kevin has founded and led campaigns that have delivered impact on a remarkable scale. He created and led Climate Week, the UK’s largest-ever climate change campaign, engaging 1.7 million people through more than 11,000 events. He also founded Global Entrepreneurship Week, which grew into the world’s largest campaign celebrating entrepreneurship, attracting more than 10 million participants globally.
Kevin has played a pivotal role in mobilising both political and financial action around some of society’s most pressing challenges. He led the Ethics for USS investment campaign, helping to create the £58 trillion Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, now the world’s largest investor coalition focused on climate action. He also conceived and chaired the Trade Justice Movement, an anti-poverty coalition responsible for organising the largest public lobby of the UK Parliament in history.
His leadership experience extends across philanthropy, policy and international development. As CEO of Enterprise Insight, he helped catalyse training opportunities for more than one million people. Later, as Chief of Staff at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), one of the world’s largest philanthropic organisations, he established a ministerial group tackling child malnutrition, backed by the White House. He also helped launch Big Win Philanthropy and led its review into violence against children.
Today, Kevin continues to influence policy and social impact initiatives through a range of board and advisory roles. He serves on the board of the Climate Bonds Initiative, which has mobilised hundreds of billions of pounds into green investment, and chairs Involve, the UK’s leading charity promoting citizen participation in democracy. He is also the founder of Freedom Friday, an ambitious campaign aimed at tackling violence against women.
As a keynote speaker, Kevin brings a rare combination of campaign leadership, political insight and practical experience in creating large-scale change. He speaks with authority on topics including climate action, sustainability, social impact, leadership, purpose-driven organisations, ethical investment, public engagement and systems change. Drawing on decades of experience influencing governments, businesses and civil society, Kevin offers audiences powerful lessons on how ideas become movements, how change happens at scale and how organisations can create lasting impact in an increasingly complex world.
