About Ewan Lacey
Ewan Lacey, when not working with celebrity chefs and designing wine tasting events, is a charming, charismatic speaker and host whose passion for his specialist subject is palpable. He has made numerous media appearances, including The Gaby Roslin Show, Channel 4’s The Cookery School and made public appearances at live events such as the BBC Good Food Show.
Ewan Lacey traces back his deep-rooted interest in the drinks business to the end of his school days when he began dabbling in making his own beer. A short-lived passion, this was quickly put to a stop when his home brewery kit exploded all over his bedroom wardrobe. Whilst studying for his degree in law, Ewan later began working in restaurants and bars in Mexico, Israel, Austria, Denmark and Scotland.
Working for the International Wine and Spirit competition saw Ewan responsible for overseeing the tasting, promotion and praising of over 10,000 spirits. Whilst dealing with the most senior people in the industry, Ewan capitalised on the opportunity to make connections and network his way to the top.
Having moved from Scotland to London, Ewan embarked on a career running restaurants in the West End. Throughout this period, his interest in wine intensified and a career in the London Wine Trade beckoned. Working as a consultant wine buyer, he has developed wine lists and trained sommeliers for some of London’s top restaurants and best hotel.
