Dee Caffari MBE
Dee Caffari is best-known for being the first woman to circumnavigate the globe, non-stop both ways round! Unbelievably, she completed the task alone and without stopping for the entire 29,100 miles. Now a much-revered motivational and keynote speaker, Dee intertwines her experiences sailing with impactful themes such as teamwork, leadership and performance.
About Dee Caffari MBE
Dee Caffari is also the only woman to have sailed non-stop around the world a total of three times. Dee has sailed against prevailing winds, currents and was awarded an MBE for her achievements and dedication to her efforts. One of Britain’s most inspirational women, Dee’s warm delivery brings her story alive: the drama, the challenges and the lessons hard learnt during her world-record setting voyages circumnavigating the world.
Dee Caffari has proven herself to be a yachtswoman of the highest calibre and many are amazed to learn that she only began her sailing career in 2000.
In addition to being the first female to sail solo round the world in both directions, Dee added another title to her belt back in 2009 by claiming the overall crewed monohull Round Britain and Ireland Speed Record, which now stands at six days 11 hours 30 minutes and 53 seconds. Furthermore, she was the only woman skipper in the Global Challenge 2004/5 and the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18.
The issue of single-use plastics in our oceans and climate emergency has gained urgent momentum. Dee is now a prominent ocean advocate having seen the impact of our Oceans’ health first-hand at sea.
As well as her MBE, Dee became an Honorary Commander in the British Royal Navy in recognition of her service to the sea, Britain’s maritime heritage and her work for charity.
