Oz Clarke

Oz Clarke’s wine career began when he captained the wine-tasting team for Oxford University. After a spell as a successful West End actor, Oz turned to writing professionally in 1984 and he was a wine correspondent for ‘The Daily Telegraph’. His first book, ‘Webster’s Wine Guide’, won awards from Wine Magazine and the Wine Guild of the United Kingdom. He has since written 23 further editions of this book (now known as ‘Oz Clarke’s Wine Guide’), ‘Oz Clarke’s New Essential Wine Book’, ‘Oz Clarke’s New Classic Wines’ and several well acclaimed books for Sainsbury’s.

Oz’s major book ‘Oz Clarke’s Wine Atlas’ (Little Brown) was published in Autumn 1995 and in the same year he launched the ‘Microsoft Wine Guide’ on CD ROM. He won the 1994 Marques de Caceres award for promoting quality wines to the consumer. Oz was the wine expert on BBC TV’s ‘Food and Drink ‘programme, he presented the BBC 1 daytime programme ‘Style Challenge’ and guests on many other TV programmes including ‘Saturday Kitchen’ and ‘Saturday Brunch’. Each year Oz produces his annual Wine Guide. In 2003 he updated ‘Oz Clarke’s Wine Atlas’ and in 2004 he produced ‘Oz Clarke’s Australian Wine Companion’ and his ‘Pocket Wine Guide’ 2004 won the Lanson Wine Guide of the Year 2004.
