About Dermot Murnaghan

Dermot joined the BBC in 2003 after many successful years with ITN, where he presented some of ITV’s most prominent news programmes, including News at Ten, as well as Channel 4 News. During his time at the BBC he presented BBC Breakfast on BBC One for five years before later becoming one of the main presenters on Sky News, hosting weekday coverage and major breaking news programmes.
Alongside his news broadcasting, Dermot has presented a variety of television programmes including Treasure Hunt, the popular BBC Two quiz show Eggheads, and its spin-offs Celebrity Eggheads and Are You An Egghead?.
His broadcasting career has also included presenting the science series Human Guinea Pig on Bravo, where high-profile guests took part in extreme scientific experiments. Dermot’s incisive interviewing style has earned widespread recognition, including the Royal Television Society’s Interviewer of the Year Award, following his high-profile interview with Peter Mandelson that led to the politician’s resignation from the Cabinet.
