About Janet Ellis

Janet Ellis is an accomplished voice-over artist – including seven series of ‘Toyota World of Wildlife’, the current Cheerio’s campaign, Fisher Price, Pampers, Abbey National and the voice of several Mexican gerbils in El Nombre for the BBC.  She has also written for ‘Tatler’, ‘The Observer’, ‘The Telegraph’, ‘Mother Magazine’, and co-authored “How to Get Married Without Divorcing Your Family” with Caron Keating (published by Harper Collins).

Biography

Janet Ellis trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Her first role was that of a Princess who got changed in to a pot plant. She subsequently played a wide variety of parts in both Theatre and Television, including ‘The Sweeney’, ‘Dr Who’, ‘Playhouse’ and four series as the presenter of the BAFTA award-winning children’s programme ‘Jigsaw’.  She then joined ‘Blue Peter’, where for four years she did everything from jumping out of planes to singing at the ‘Last Night of the Proms’. Sticky-backed plastic was also involved.  On leaving, she presented ‘Open Air’ for the BBC, and has since presented a huge range of programmes across the networks, both recorded and live, on topics as diverse as gardens, cars, holidays, cookery and childcare.

She is now a regular on Five’s ‘The Wright Stuff’, and also presented a series of programmes called ‘Lifeblood’ for the National Blood service, aired on Five. She’s a regular contributor to LBC Radio and BBC Radio 4. She has filmed a 14 part series of holistic house makeover shows called ‘Housebusters’ for Five. She has also presented various strands over the UKTV ‘Mums Weekend’ and appealed for people to nominate their mum in a search for the UKTV’s Mum of the Year’.
