About Cheryl Baker

Cheryl Baker joined newly created band Bucks Fizz back in 1981 as their lead singer. Her and her bandmates had their sights set on Eurovision from the get-go, but never imagined they would go on to obtain 3 UK Number one hits and 20 singles in the UK Top 60 charts. Cheryl’s natural charisma paired with her four-decade long career is enough to entertain any audience of any size or demographic.

Biography

Cheryl Baker is one of the few band singers whose solo careers was an absolute inevitability. In 1984 she was asked to present the children’s television show, “How Dare You”, which set the ball rolling for her as a TV presenter. Apart from children’s favourites such as Record Breakers and Eggs ‘n’ Baker, she presented daytime current affairs shows, prime-time Saturday evening shows and even dog agility shows! During the 90’s, Cheryl was on TV 6 days a week! All this, and she was still singing with Bucks Fizz. So, at the end of 1993, Cheryl stepped down from Bucks Fizz after twelve years to concentrate on her solo career.

She is hugely popular with the general public and is often considered ‘the girl next door’. Whenever she makes an appearance either in the Media or at events, her charm and personality have everyone, young and old, eating from the palm of her hand.

Cheryl had to have IVF to conceive her twin daughters and has openly talked about this on many occasions in a bid to both demystify the process and provide support to other women. Consequently, she is a patron/supporter to almost every infertility charity in the UK!

An entertaining speaker Cheryl peppers her talks with anecdotes which include where the idea of the girls pulling off their skirts came from to working with the wonderful Roy Castle and her struggles with IVF to trying to stop hospital super bugs.

Cheryl lives in the South with her husband, their twin daughters, her father-in-law and their two German Shepherds.
