Musa Okwonga

Musa Okwonga is a celebrated writer, poet, and cultural commentator, admired by global icons including JK Rowling and Ed Sheeran, who said, “He writes from the heart with no filter, and that’s what the best wordsmiths do. I’m a fan.” A scholarship student at Eton College and law graduate from Oxford University, Musa initially trained as a solicitor before pursuing his true passion for writing and storytelling.

The co-host of the acclaimed Stadio football podcast, Musa is the author of three books on football, including A Cultured Left Foot, which was nominated for the 2008 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award. His work spans multiple genres, from poetry and memoirs to children’s literature. Recent titles include: in The End, It Was All About Love, a deeply personal memoir set in Berlin (Rough and Striking Out, a children’s novel inspired by the life of football legend Ian Wright (Scholastic).

Musa’s writing has been featured in The Guardian, The Economist, The New York Times, The Byline Times, and The Ringer, while his insightful commentary has made him a regular guest on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Channel 4 News, and Sky News. He has also delivered talks for BBC Radio 3 and 4, exploring topics such as social media, culture, and literature.

Now based in Berlin, Musa continues to inspire global audiences with his unique voice and fearless approach to storytelling, offering thought-provoking perspectives on sport, identity, culture, and society.
