I love January! After two weeks of over indulgence, minimal routine for my children and late nights – I really look forward to getting back into eating properly, exercising regularly and my routine. I love my job so I really do look forward to getting back to work, too. This year is a little different though.
I know for a lot of people, even without a global pandemic running rife, January is a tough month. The short days and too much darkness as well as the freezing cold weather. Over spending in December makes it financially hard for many as well as a rather reduced social calendar…. The list goes on.
To exacerbate things, we have had to add into the mix, the devastating effects of COVID-19. For many, like me, juggling home-schooling and work (and training a puppy!) is incredibly stressful. Others who find themselves alone are suffering from isolation and loneliness. Worst of all, those who are suffering the grief of losing a loved one to this horrible virus.
Maintaining mental health
I’m only a couple of days into the new work year but we have noticed a huge surge of inquiries for a particular subject. Maintaining Mental Health. It is clear that employers are recognising the stresses both physically and mentally their employees are under. In order to deal with this they are looking for virtual ways to support them as much as possible. As a result, many organisations are approaching us at The Speaker’s Agency for wellness speakers. They know their army however large or small is the back bone of their company and maintaining their mental health is a serious focus for them.
Employee engagement is more important than ever right now. Empowering employees, encouraging them, enthusing them, making them feel valued, helping them feel worthy are just a few of the subjects our clients are asking us to provide speakers to skilfully cover in their presentations. Our Mental Health, Communication and wellness speakers are being booked to talk to teams remotely. They are offering practical advice and support on how to get through this turbulent time. We have speakers on this topic to fit all briefs and budgets.
They are hugely experienced and include:
Owen O’Kane
Owen O’Kane is a psychotherapist, Sunday Times best-selling author of ‘Ten To Zen’ and speaker. His talks leave audiences curious, positively challenged and eager to make changes in their lives. He is a former NHS Clinical Lead for mental health, with over 25 years’ experience. He now runs a private practice in London.
Fearne Cotton
Fearne has been presenting live TV since the age of 15 and her book Happy, talks about her own experiences of happiness (including some of the not-so-happy ones). Her podcast, Happy Place sees her talk to incredible people about life, love, loss, and everything in-between as she reveals what happiness means to them.
Porna Bell
Poorna Bell is an award-winning journalist, published author, speaker and influencer. She speaks about business, fitness, body image, wellness, mental health and issues facing the BAME community. A regular guest on TV and radio she is also a regular guest on podcasts, including Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place and The Book of Man with Professor Green.
