A familiar face on television, Oliver has presented and designed for numerous programmes, including BBC’s Home Front and Changing Rooms, Channel 4’s House to Home, ITV’s Front of House, and BBC DIY SOS. He is also a popular event host, having fronted prestigious awards ceremonies such as the Sunday Times British Homes Awards, The Pea Awards, and The Kitchen and Bathroom Awards.
Trained as an architect at Oxford Brookes University and The Bartlett School of Architecture, Oliver first rose to prominence after winning the BBC’s Young Designer of the Year in 1998. His passion for sustainability has led him to act as a spokesperson for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Energy Saving Trust (EST), and Waste Recycling Action Group (WRAP). He regularly speaks at major events including EcoBuild, Grand Designs Live, and 100% Design, sharing his expertise on sustainable living and healthy home environments.
Oliver’s own home in Brighton has been a showcase of sustainable refurbishment, earning Super Home status from the Sustainable Energy Academy for reducing carbon emissions by over 75%, as well as the Best Refurbishment Prize from BIDA. He has also authored four design books, including the international bestseller Urban Eco Chic and his latest release, Design a Healthy Home, published by DK Books in 2021.
