Ian Hurst

Ian Hurst is a former corporate professional who managed global insurance for elite clients but struggled with severe loneliness and emotional exhaustion. A transformative mental health course led him to leave his corporate life and focus on mental health and suicide prevention within organisations. Ian is a highly skilled and creative communicator, trainer and public speaker both in the UK and internationally.

About Ian Hurst

Ian Hurst’s journey from a high-flying insurance executive, managing accounts for prestigious clients like Nestle, Bentley, and Rolls Royce, to a beacon of mental health advocacy is both profound and inspiring. For nearly two decades, Ian navigated the demanding corporate landscape of London, balancing a lucrative career with the joys and challenges of family life. Yet, beneath the surface, he battled severe loneliness and the exhaustion of wearing a constant facade.

A pivotal moment on a return flight home led Ian to confront his emotional struggles head-on, catalysing a deep dive into mental health education. This exploration was transformative, reshaping his understanding of well-being and prompting a bold career pivot. Ian embraced redundancy to launch We Are Hummingbird Health, dedicating himself to mental health instruction and suicide prevention.

Today, Ian is recognised not only for his corporate acumen but as a dynamic communicator, trainer, and advocate for mental health awareness, both in the UK and internationally. His approach is refreshingly straightforward, blending his newfound passion for mental health with his lifelong love of music. Ian believes in the power of music to unlock emotions and memories, leveraging this universal language to foster a deeper understanding of mental health in relatable terms.

His mission is clear: to demystify mental health using the compelling medium of music and real-life stories, steering clear of clinical jargon. Ian Hurst represents a new breed of speaker, one who merges personal experience with universal truths, all while championing the cause of mental wellness with every beat.
